About Us

Đốt Nến is a Vietnamese phrase meaning "light the candle" or "burn the candle."

Proudly Viet-Canadian

Dot Nen is the brainchild of two Asian Canadian sisters who chose this name as an homage to their heritage. Known for their creativity, the Dot Nen sisters began by crafting candles, but their artistic vision has expanded to include beautifully designed trays, vases, and other decorative pieces made from a concrete-like material. Every item is handcrafted with attention to detail, using locally sourced materials and eco-friendly practices.

  • You can discard the wax according to local disposal requirements or if you have a scented wax you can use the leftover wax in a wax melter to make the scent last a little longer!

  • All of our candles are hand-poured and hand-crafted. We are also using an all natural soy wax which does have a tendency to frost.  Since the pieces are created by hand and not by machine, there will be some slight variations in colour, weight, look etc - which we think makes each piece a little more unique and special!

  • Though we do recommend that our candles be decor, how much a scent fills a room depends on a few factors. For all candles, the "hot throw" or the way in which the fragrance fills a room when burned depends on your space size and the candle size. For example, for smaller spaces (like a bathroom), a smaller scented candle would fill the room well! However, if you light a smaller candle in a large kitchen or living room it will not fill the entire room. You can always light more than one candle at once.

  • Great question! In order to get the sculpturesque look of our candles, we use an all natural soy blend. For our jars, we use coconut and soy wax blends. We use locally sourced dye and fragrance oils.
